Happy almost Friday everyone! I’m excited to be sharing a new week of outfits, featuring some cult classics from TRADLANDS!
I find that I have a tendency to gravitate towards the same pieces over and over for about a week or two at a time (basically until the weather changes or it’s laundry day). So I thought I’d have some fun with the concept of mixing and matching a few items a bunch of different ways (8 to be exact) for a week of winter outfits.
In this little look book, I’m featuring a few styles from TRADLANDS that have been on my radar for several months or longer. I feel like these looks really show my current style headspace, which is all about comfort, layers, and practicality, with, of course, the usual twist of elevated ease.
Read on for a detailed look at:
- The cult favourite Guide Coverall in Denim (a new style for me!)
- My personal staple, the Monty Turtleneck in Black Stripe
- A winter mainstay, the Wool Shirt Jacket in Fog
- 8 days worth of ways to wear all three.

UP FIRST
THE GUIDE COVERALLS IN DENIM
(I’m wearing a Medium, more fit notes below.)

These coveralls have been a cult favourite on Instagram for ages and I can certainly see why now that I’ve tried them. I’ve had a worksuit (aka. coveralls) on my wish list for a couple of years now (yes years!) and when I saw this one in a classic denim I had high hopes that it would be the answer (after some failed attempts to thrift one).
I rarely ask Dave (my husband) to weigh in on pieces I’m testing out but I was so excited about this one that I came barreling down the stairs to show him. He immediately stopped and said, “Oh hello! Okay, so, where’s mine?”, which is essentially the biggest compliment I can hope for from Dave.

1 | ADJUSTABLE WAIST TABS
I’ve often felt coveralls were too boxy through the midsection on me, but these have an adjustable waist that you can cinch a couple of inches on or wear loose.
2 | POCKETS GALORE
These coveralls have not two, not four, but SIX pockets to choose from or all your utilitarian requirements.
Mine include: Dog treats, air pods, my phone, a reusable mask, lip balm and occasionally gloves for when I’m headed out the door.

3 | SOFT BUT STURDY FEEL
The 100% cotton denim Tradlands chose for these is spot on. It’s soft enough that you can move and wear it with ease. While at the same time it feels durable and very well made.
Mechanic-chic at its finest!
EASY ON & OFF
The hidden placket button front is easy to undo (and deep) for bathroom breaks and I love how the buttons are concealed for a slightly more minimal feel.

FIT NOTES
For reference, I’m 5’7 with about a 27 in waist, 38 in hip and usually wear a 27 in denim or a US size 4 in pants.
I would say the Guide Coverall runs TTS for a slim fit but if you’re curvy on the bottom or just want more wiggle room, I’d size up. Being more of a pear shape myself, I went with a Medium to be sure there would be ample room through the hip and enough space for me to layer over leggings in the winter months.
I’m 5’7 with a pretty average torso/leg ratio and I’d say if you’re much taller the length would be something to consider. As you can see above (or even better in the looks below) the 25.5 in inseam is fairly cropped on me (I usually go for for a 28-30 in inseam to hit at the ankle). At first I thought the torso may be too short but as I’ve gotten used to the style, I’ve found it’s pretty spot on!
Generally, I’ve found TRADLANDS sleeve lengths tends to hit me above the wrist, which I’m fine with, but I know some prefer longer sleeves.
UP NEXT
THE MONTY TURTLENECK
(I’m wearing a small, more fit notes below)

I fell in love with this style last fall and couldn’t wait to get my paws on the latest striped version. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m pretty particular about my patterns and prints and a true black and white stripe can be hard to find. This one is the perfect bold classic that instantly adds energy to a look.
Here’s a few more details that I love about the Monty Turtleneck:

1 | DOUBLE LAYERED NECK
The turtleneck on these is roomy and has a double layer so it stands up well when folded. Not too tight on the throat but still keeps the warmth in.
2 | SOFT & STRETCHY
Made from 95% cotton with 5% spandex for shape retention and stretch. The feel of these fabric is soft, breathable and easy to move in.

3 | IDEAL FOR TUCKING…OR NOT
I love the easy fit of the Monty and the split hi-lo hem (shown best here) is great for tucking (the back doesn’t pop out when you bend down!) or a nice detail to leave visible if you’re not into tucking your tops.
FIT NOTES
For reference, I’m 5’7 with about a 27 in waist, 38 in hip and usually wear a 32C bra and a size small in tops.
I’m wearing my usual size Small and I really like how this one fits. It’s cut straight and relaxed through the torso but the sleeves are slimmer fitting and tapered at the wrist, making it ideal for layering under jackets and sweaters.
FINALLY
THE SHIRT JACKET IN FOG
(I’m wearing a Medium, more fit notes below.)

“Shackets” are definitely getting their 15 minutes this year and I’m here for it. They’re versatile and functional with the ability to fill in some hard to fit closet gaps during the winter months. Not a shirt but not quite a jacket either, they make for the ideal in-between layer when you’re working from home or in and out of the car.
TRADLANDS knows a thing or two about chore coats and shirt jackets so I was excited to try out their wool blend rendition in this beautiful heathered fog grey.
Here’s my two-cents on the details I noticed most:

1 | CUT FOR EASY LAYERING
This piece was designed to be worn over other tops and it’s great for just that. I like how it falls away from the frame and how the curved hemline softens it.
2 | MINIMAL DESIGN
A single chest pocket and contrasting cream buttons are all this shirt jacket needs. Restraint is hard to come by in this type of garment but it gives it more range.

3 | GREAT SLEEVES
A combination of the wool blend fabric and deep cuffs make the sleeves a breeze to style and play with. I personally like a folded cuff as it always adds a nonchalance elegance to any look.
MORE FIT & FABRIC NOTES
For reference, I’m 5’7 with about a 27 in waist, 38 in hip and usually wear a 32C bra and a size small in tops.
I sized up from my usual Small in shirts to a Medium in this piece as I was looking for lots of layering room and some extra length. Ultimately, I could have probably gone with a Small since the Medium is quite roomy but I’m still happy with it. The sleeves are also nice and long on this shirt jacket, as opposed to more cropped on the coverall.
The fabric is a wool, viscose and poly blend made from deadstock and recycled materials. The Fog colour is a beautiful mid grey with flecks of darker shades and creams in there too. It is a medium weight, very similar to flannel. That said, I’d say it’s too scratchy for me to wear directly against my skin (lower arms are fine but around the neck not so much). I expect it will soften with wear and washing over time but I can’t guarantee that at this point. Just something to note if you were considering wearing it over a tank or on it’s own.
NOW ONTO
A WEEK OF WINTER STYLE
I’m excited to wear all these looks during the winter days ahead and put them together with the following activities in mind:
- Working from home (or tucked away in a cabin up north)
- Walks around the neighbourhood with a pup or the kids
- A couple of dressier looks for safely distanced outdoor hello’s with friends or family. (Something we plan to play by ear and would not do if it were putting anyone at risk.)
- Cheers’ing colleagues or long-distance loved ones via Zoom.
- Hiking forest trails dusted in crunchy snow. (Dobby’s favourite!)
